Key Hitting Difference in Wickham's 6-5 Win
Looking at the scoreboard after Sunday night's MLY action you wouldn't
think the game saw solid pitching from both teams. In fact, 6-5 sounds more like a shootout. However,
consider team Wickham's six runs were all plated on just three homeruns scattered throughout the game by opposing pitcher
Bud Clark and it becomes clear that the bats were not overpowering, just timely.
Team Wickham started off the scoring in the bottom of the first
inning when Shawn Brown hit a two-run homerun. Team Clark would answer in the top of the third when Andy
Taylor, Mike Jones and Clark all homered to cap a five-run inning that chased starting pitcher Monu Wickham from the game.
Monu would redeem himself in the bottom of the fourth when he hit
a three-run homerun to tie the game at five. Phil Bradley would add a homerun in the bottom of the fifth to
put Team Wickham ahead 6-5. Shawn Brown closed out the game for Team Wickham, picking up his second win of
the season.
